ITINERARY:

The journey starts at 09:00 a.m. Visiting the rest of the train machinery that stays there since 1890. The train cemetery, its name comes from the abandoned trains that can be found there; it’s an excellent place to take pictures, especially if you are a person who likes locomotives. We will enter the salt flat by Colchani where the visitant can appreciate the rustic homes made with adobe, salt blocks and houses thatches. After that you will see Crude extraction of salt, the salt piles, the eyes of the salt desert and the salt crafts in the Salt Museum. We will visit the Jirira and Coqueza villages, their principal economical activities are the cultivation of the quinoa and tourism. You will also have the pleasure to enjoy the view from the Thunupa Volcano viewpoint.   The journey continues towards the heart of the salt desert, the Incahuasi Island. Continuing we will go through a trail to see the Uyuni salt flat from an over view and, the cobalt blue sky with the hundreds of giant cactuses.

This experience will be accompanied with a “Novoandina” food and a special Bolivian wine selection “Vinos de Altura” So called because they are grape seeds grown over 2600m.a.s.l. In the afternoon you will appreciate a spectacle of colors when the sun goes down in the infinite sea of salt and a blanket of stars at night. Return to Uyuni at 7:30 p.m.

Taking into account the extreme weather conditions of the area, bring warm and / or thermal clothing, glasses with UV protection, sunscreen, cap or hat for sun protection. In rainy season it is advisable to bring waterproof boots and clothing.
